For the last few weeks, we have been reviewing Super Teacher Worksheets Individual Membership and we are IN LOVE!
Super Teacher Worksheets has thousands of printables for grade K – 6 (there are some activities/worksheets for pre – k and 7 – 12 grades, but the majority is for K – 6). The worksheets cover a variety of subjects including math, reading & writing, phonics & early literacy, handwriting, grammar, spelling lists, chapter books, science, and social studies. There are even activities for holidays and special occasions, puzzles and brain teasers, teachers helpers, and a custom worksheet generator!
The Individual Membership is super affordable at just $19.95 per year. With your membership, you will have access to the entire website – all subjects and all grades.
How We Used Super Teacher Worksheets
Monkey generally hates writing, so worksheets are always a bit of a struggle. He does love games and puzzles though, and I was so excited to see a section with holiday/special event themed worksheets and another with puzzles and brain teasers!
I started by giving him some worksheets from the “Back to School” category. He was excited to solve the secret code puzzle and complete the word search. It was a great way to ease into the writing required to complete many of these activities.
We also tried out some of the addition square logic puzzles. For this activity, each problem is a 2×2 square and you have to fill in the squares to add to the number on the side of each row and column. So before putting a number into each box, you have to think about the equation in both the column and the row you are working on. These were new for Monkey and really required him to think through the problems.
We also used the First Grade spelling lists. Each spelling unit has multiple worksheets and activities to help the student learn their spelling words in a fun way. The variety of printable activities kept Monkey interested and kept the complaining to a minimum!
For the First Grade level, there are 30 regular units, plus themed units for holidays and themes such as farm, colors, number words, school, etc. Each spelling list/unit contains 10 words, eight regular words and 2 challenge “star” words.
Another awesome feature of Super Teacher Worksheets is the “My File Cabinet.” Initially, I spent a lot of time clicking through the different categories and activities looking for printables that I though Monkey would like. If it looked like something he could handle now, I went ahead and downloaded the file immediately. But, if it was for a higher grade level or if he just wasn’t ready for it quite yet, all I have to do is click on the file button and it’s saved for me to access easily at a later date!
We have thoroughly enjoyed using Super Teachers Worksheets. I didn’t get a chance to use the custom worksheet generator other than quickly fiddling with it to see how it works, but I’m excited to make Monkey some custom word searches now that I know he likes them and I’ve seen how easy it is to use! This is a resource that we will continue to use this year and will likely continue to use in the years to come.
